On October 7th 2023, SAFE hosted the Family Fall Fest featuring popular artist Maren Morris at the Pavilion in Riverfront Park. With over 3,500 participants in attendance, the event featured music, food, community vendors who provided resources, games, and prizes to engage the attendees. These vendors included experts in prevention, treatment centers, and recovery support services.
The event highlighted the critical need to combat the fentanyl crisis through education, support, and advocacy. Before the event, Marcia Malsam, CEO of Rayce Rudeen Foundation and S.A.F.E., thanked all the vendors. She shared the difficulty of finding resources for her nephew Rayce before losing his battle with addiction due to a fentanyl overdose in 2016.
Opening for Maren Morris was Lakeside High School Jazz Band, Bruiser, and Sammy Eubanks. The Emcees were Morgan Ashley, Geoff McLachlan, and Jamie Patrick.
Thank you to speaker Melissa Smith of Newport High School and her students, speaker Professor Nicole Rodin of WSU Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical, and Sheriff Nowels and his daughter Sarah who shared a deeply personal account on fentanyl addiction and recovery.
The only way we can beat fentanyl is to work together!
